Council of Governments — 2026-02-11

The Queen Anne’s County Council of Governments met February 11, 2026 in Barclay with town and county representatives present; a light dinner was provided and roll call and voting delegates were confirmed. Presentations included Jeff Rank’s report on FY27 Tax Set Off rates, Lara D. Wilson of UM Shore Regional Health updating that a new UM Shore Regional Medical Center remains on schedule for summer 2028 and that the existing hospital property is being put up for sale with bids being received, and Shane Moore reporting the 2025–2036 Solid Waste Plan update is in process with a public hearing to be scheduled and final adoption planned for May 1. Town reports highlighted Barclay’s $1,044,000 grant for a new Town Hall, Sudlersville’s upcoming park trail repaving and need for benches, Church Hill’s pending WWTP permit and 150th anniversary plans, Queen Anne’s offer on a 2-acre riverside parcel and trail discussions with the railroad, Centreville’s budget work and July 2 fireworks, and Queenstown’s equipment replacement and upcoming sewer line project. County items included Route 405 reopening, plans for a south-county ambulance in the budget, school funding and design work for a new Centreville middle school, updates on the Chesapeake Bay Crossing study and Regional Tech Center funding, the regional jail converting to a county jail, and upcoming hearings on redlight and speed camera ordinances; the next COG meeting was set for May 13 in the Town of Queen Anne.
