This is the Town of Centreville FY2027 budget work session (April 9, 2026) where Council and staff reviewed department operating and capital budgets, donation requests, vendor contracts, and fund balances. Council agreed to fully fund the Arts Council request for $2,500, discussed a $8,500 request from the Queen Anne’s County Historical Society and will revisit a Veterans memorial/statue request later, and emphasized keeping donation funds flexible and improving the application timeline. Staff clarified budget line items (no pay raises; Council salary line increase reflects potential retirement benefit participation), explained the slip rental revenue timing, noted staffing increases in the Street Department, and higher water contract/service costs and Main Street grant funding. Capital requests totaled $78,120 (trailer $17,000; Well 6 roof $8,060; Well 5 roof $13,060; compact tractor $40,000). Draft budget figures shown: General Fund revenues $8,000,188 and expenses $8,251,976, Enterprise Fund revenues and expenses $3,533,957, and reported fund surpluses of General $52,416 and Enterprise $6,685; Council noted upcoming impacts from a utility rate study and the trash contract and scheduled the final proposed budget for the first May Council meeting.
