The Centreville Town Council met June 5, 2025, and opened with recognition of Centreville Police officers Ford and DeCrispino for lifesaving actions; the May 15 minutes were approved. The Council conditionally approved a Tuesday evening Farmers’ Market (4–6 p.m.) starting in June, agreed to close Broadway on June 29 for the market (event ~11 a.m.), and set the evening market location at the corner of Lawyers Row; the market now accepts SNAP and WIC. The Council approved a Front Street closure for a private event on July 12 (motion set closure 4:00–11:30 p.m.), and heard details of the Kennard African American Cultural Heritage Centre’s Juneteenth festival on June 14 including authors Carol Boston Weatherford and Dr. Clair Small. The FY26 budget (Ordinance 07-2025) was approved with transfers to fund balance of $99,990 (Operating) and $150,961 (Enterprise), General Fund capital requests of $342,000, Enterprise capital $115,000, and grant-funded projects totaling $4,625,250 (including a $2,500,000 placeholder in C25 – Farm for possible water reuse); Ordinance 09-2025 (amending Chapter 31 Dangerous Buildings to allow Town costs to be liens) and Ordinance 11-2025 (acceptance of Green Street extended from the YMCA) were set for public hearings on June 26. The Council encumbered $3,000 to the FY26 budget for a trail brochure, deferred the town solar partnership decision to the June 26 agenda, approved water/sewer allocations for 132 Spring Street (one water, one sewer) and 138 Spring Street (one sewer), and proposed July 10 and August 7 meeting dates.
