The Centreville Town Council met May 15, 2025; the Council removed Ordinance 08-2025 from the agenda, approved the April 17 minutes, and heard no public comments during Citizens Forum. The Council approved $750 to sponsor the Rock the Porch event (up from $500 last year), unanimously agreed (contingent on Queen Anne’s County Liquor Board approval) to suspend Chapter 7-3 to allow public alcohol consumption at a Beer Garden, and unanimously approved closing Lawyers Row until 8:00 p.m. A public hearing was held and Resolution 05-2025 (Comprehensive Plan: 2040) received no public comment; Council agreed to replace a business name with a parcel number and approved the resolution. The FY2026 budget (Ordinance 07-2025) was presented in a public hearing: FAMLI line items were removed (start date extended to 2027), workers’ comp figures and allocation changed (allocation 5% to 0%), transfers to fund balance are $99,990 (Operating) and $150,961 (Enterprise), General Fund capital requests total $342,000, Enterprise capital $115,000, grant-funded projects total $4,625,250, and a $2,500,000 placeholder remains for a potential water reuse farm; final consideration of Ordinance 07-2025 was scheduled for June 5, 2025. New business included referral of Ordinance 06-2025 (allowing electronic messaging centers for public schools, with edits) to the Planning Commission, first reading of Ordinance 09-2025 (amending Dangerous Buildings to allow town costs to be liens) with a public hearing set for June 26, 2025, acceptance of the Julie Parker Public Information Officer proposal in lieu of the RFP (unanimous), and an update that a utility rate study memo was provided to Council.
