These are the minutes of the Town of Centreville FY2025 budget work session held March 20, 2025. Staff reviewed changes to the proposed FY2026 budget (including adding a full year of medical cannabis sales tax distribution of $30,000) and walked through department budgets, noting minor salary typo corrections, a $5,000 addition to Police special events, and a universal update to projected health insurance costs to 6%. Council discussed adding code enforcement capacity (a half‑time code enforcement officer had been added earlier; Council later gave consensus for a full‑time zoning administrator, a 20‑hour code enforcement officer, and two seasonal Public Works employees) and approved constructing a relocated HR office paid from FY25. Capital changes included adding $16,000 for cemetery software; staff reported bond interest rates for prior bonds and showed transfers to fund balance of $91,657 and $47,768. Council considered a proposed $0.01 property tax rate reduction (Luffman calculated the FY26 revenue impact as $73,157.83) but left the tax rate for further discussion at the April 3, 2025 meeting; no citizens spoke at the session.
