The minutes record the August 1, 2024 Centreville Town Council meeting where the Council approved the July 18 minutes and heard no citizen comments. Heather Tinelli (Queen Anne’s County Economic & Tourism Development) reported the Town had originally been awarded $500,000 from a Rural Maryland Grant for lab building renovations, UV disinfection, and influent screening but missed the June 2024 spending deadline; the County secured a partial extension of $200,000 for the laboratory building and will assist with funding options for the full wastewater project. The Council approved Resolution 15-2024 (On Call Policy) for a 60-day trial pending legal review and field validation, and the Town President requested a legal opinion from the Town Attorney. Town Manager Brinkley asked to hold public hearings on Ordinance 08-2024 (Temporary Moratorium) and Ordinance 09-2024 (Cannabis Provisions) at the September 19 meeting, reported Rt. 213 work in front of the police department is complete, reminded of the August 5 election paperwork deadline, and noted 105 N. Liberty St. was power washed and will have a roof replacement soon. The Police Chief reported lower enforcement numbers but increased investigative work, execution of search/arrest warrants, and ongoing training initiatives (Lexipol policy training expected to finish in about 4.5 months) along with other recent training and community events.
