The July 18, 2024 Centreville Town Council meeting at the Liberty Building opened with the Pledge and approval of the June 20 minutes as amended. The Council held a public hearing on Ordinance 07-2024 to adopt Queen Anne’s County housing provisions and an enforcement agreement; Ms. Adams presented proof of notice, there were no public comments, and the hearing was adjourned. Presentations included a Drink Maryland event recap (462 total tasting tickets sold; 249 advance tickets; 32 surveys with 25 rating the event good/excellent), news of a $280,000 Project Restore grant to renovate 102 N. Commerce Street for a new Italian restaurant, and a wastewater treatment update from Whitman, Requardt & Associates about plans to extend the treated effluent outfall into the Corsica River, a required VIMS mixing study, baseline sampling for MDE/DNR locations, and a PER submitted to MDE (under review). Mary Margaret Goodwin sought and received unanimous Council support for the 2026 Tri-Centennial Commission, and a citizen (Joe Brown) asked about school property acquisition, requested copies of the police report, raised a concern about GTI dumping cannabis byproduct into the sewer, and asked for website updates.
