The June 20, 2024 Centreville Town Council meeting included approval of the June 6 minutes, a closed session on personnel and board/commission appointments, and no public comments during Citizens Forum. Annie Richards of ShoreRivers/Corsica River Conservancy and Chesapeake Legal Alliance praised town communication on the wastewater treatment plant work, urged the Town to consider options beyond current MDE standards citing outdated data and a new CESR report, and discussed higher operating costs and funding considerations. New business items reviewed included Ordinance 07-2024 to adopt the Queen Anne’s County housing inspection authority (a public hearing may be scheduled July 18), a health insurance surplus memo proposing two health premium “holidays” in August and future YMCA memberships for employee wellness (Council President requested a more equitable approach), and a police grant modification proposal for which Council gave unanimous consensus (including using speed limit signage on Hope Road). The Planning Commission discussed requesting a limited moratorium related to the “complete neighborhood” concept and sewer allocation/policy from the comprehensive plan. Staff in attendance and several routine board, department, and upcoming meeting items were reported on in the minutes.
