Town Council — 2023-12-07

The Centreville Town Council met December 7, 2023 at the Liberty Building with five council members and key staff present. The Council approved the November 16, 2023 minutes (4 ayes, 1 abstention); held a closed session earlier that evening to discuss personnel communications and the status of a criminal investigative proceeding (no actions taken); and presented a Billy Mitchell Award proclamation to 2nd Lt. Nathan Mellinger. Council President Kaiser reported crosswalk installations at Little Kidwell Avenue, Green Street, and Providence Lane are complete and the Little Kidwell extension was expected to open the next day. The Council unanimously adopted Resolution 12-2023 to reduce speed limits to 15 mph in specified school zones during school hours for Centreville and Kennard Elementary schools, and by consensus approved applying for a Lead & Copper Inventory Grant and the 120 Water Comprehensive Digital Solution Program. Other business included a Holiday Committee update and menorah lighting announcement, an invitation to the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company banquet, economic development updates (Pat Fox joining the County EDC and CREDE gaining nonprofit status), the Planning Commission finishing work on the Comprehensive Plan with a Town Council public hearing scheduled for December 14, and a Town Manager report noting the Town appeared at a Queen Anne’s County Commissioners public hearing requesting an amendment to the County’s Comprehensive Water and (minutes truncated).
