The Centreville Town Council met October 19, 2023 at the Vincit Building. The council approved the October 5, 2023 reorganization meeting minutes and reported two recent closed sessions: an October 17 closed session about personnel that resulted in termination of a town employee’s contract, and an October 19 closed session about personnel with no action taken. Main Street Manager Carol D’Agostino reported on Centreville Day (44 vendor/non‑profit tables, $8,450 raised, reusable bags distributed with information on the upcoming plastic bag ban) and the council unanimously approved street closures for October 28 (Lawyers Row 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; Broadway 10:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.). The meeting recognized winners of the Kids’ Fishing Derby (Cash Losten, Wystan Culver, Joey Davis; first fish: Levi Helms). Finance Officer Karen Luffman introduced Ordinance 07‑2023 to amend the FY2023 budget (requesting $3,774 to the General Fund and $283,230 to the Enterprise Fund) with a public hearing set for November 16, and Councilmember Johnson requested up to $1,000 for the October 28 Halloween event and up to $4,000 for December holiday activities/decorations, to be coordinated with Ms. D’Agostino (no vote outcome recorded in the minutes).
