The Centreville Town Council met April 20, 2023; the meeting was called to order by Council Member Eric B. Johnson, Jr., with council members and key staff present. The council announced a closed session held April 13 to discuss personnel (board/commission members and contract positions) and by consensus agreed not to seek reappointment for a board or commission member. In public business, the council approved use of Lawyer’s Row on September 30, 2023 for the “Tattoos for a Cause” event (setup at 8:00 a.m., event 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.) and directed organizers to coordinate with police and public works; they also by consensus authorized Carol D’Agostino to apply for the Main Street Improvement Program grant (Designated Main Streets $25,000) and heard about other grant possibilities and local business promotions. On signage, Tim McCluskey urged the council not to change electronic-sign language; council discussion on a draft digital-sign ordinance continued, with Council Member Worth suggesting increasing message-change timing from 30 seconds to five minutes. The council read Resolution 05-2023 (travel policy) and agreed to include recommended additions for consideration at the May 4, 2023 meeting; Mr. Johnson read the 2023 Arbor Day proclamation and other agenda items were listed for future action.
