Town Council — 2023-04-13

This was a Centreville Town Council FY2024 budget work session on April 13, 2023. Council reviewed fund balances (General Fund +$236,388; Enterprise Fund -$130,000), discussed the constant-yield tax rate ($0.5207) versus the current rate ($0.535), and voted to keep the tax rate at $0.535 (4–1) to return about $93,000 to the General Fund. Council approved purchase of a Vactron truck using ARPA funds and unanimously approved a $30,000 increase to the Goodwill Fire Company line item. The Council reviewed capital requests (including $10,000 for hydrant replacement, $30,000 for a light tower, $58,000 toward sewer collection repairs, and $120,000 for two patrol vehicles) and heard sewer I&I repair estimates of about $350,000. For wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) operations the Council compared three options (MES $309,930; Susquehanna Operational Services $406,000 with escalator; Town-operated $524,720) and voted to include Susquehanna Operational Services in the FY2024 budget (motion passed 4–1; one abstention).
