Town Council — 2023-02-16

The Town Council met on February 16, 2023. Council approved the February 2, 2023 minutes, introduced and swore in two new Centreville Police officers (Joseph Beans and Nataly Amaya), and unanimously waived a town code provision to allow alcohol consumption at the June 17, 2023 Drink Maryland event from noon to 5:00 p.m. The Planning Commission reported a second public hearing on the Community Plan and approval of the final site plan and subdivision plat for Taco Bell. The Town Manager provided multiple wastewater and water-reuse updates: following up with MDE on leasing vs. buying a farm, attending a water reuse conference, hearings on SB407 and SB392, finishing the Preliminary Engineering Report and moving to design for the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), and noting Centreville is in the State budget for $14.9 million for the WWTP upgrade; he also noted a potential payoff of older grants/bonds that could free about $300,000 annually. Council members said they are finalizing Rules of Council to distribute before the March 2 meeting; the meeting adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
