The Centreville Town Council met February 2, 2023, opened with Citizens Forum (Joe Brown spoke), and held a closed session at 6:15 p.m. to discuss the performance of an employee; four council members voted to close the session and no actions were taken. The Council held public hearings and then voted to approve three charter amendment resolutions: Resolution 01-2023 (Section 701, Chief of Police reporting structure) passed 3-1 (Kaiser, Worth, Kline in favor; Beauchamp opposed), and Resolutions 02-2023 (Section 702, Merit System) and 03-2023 (Section 703, Unclassified/Classified Service) passed unanimously. During New Business councilmembers discussed the town’s automatic license plate reader (ALPR) system, expressed a preference for vehicle-mounted units over fixed pole units, and reached consensus to move forward with a grant request for car-mounted ALPRs. The Council also approved the January 19, 2023 minutes.
