Town Council — 2022-08-18

The August 18, 2022 Centreville Town Council meeting approved the July 21, 2022 minutes, swore in three board members (Lucy Ickes-Marks to the Ethics Commission, Ryan Holdgreve to the Park Advisory Board, and Steve Layden to the Board of Supervisors of Appeals), and heard citizen comments about a pole installation in Symphony Village. Ordinance 10-2022 (code reference corrections to the Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 170) was read for first reading, will be referred to the Planning Commission, and was amended to remove a two-thirds Council vote requirement. Resolution 04-2022 amending the Retiree Health Reimbursement Plan was approved, made effective July 1, 2022, and will grandfather one current enrollee while making future retiree stipends available to employees retiring with 10+ years of service. The Council set the 2023 fireworks date for June 30, 2023 (to be held at White Marsh Park), discussed the Planning Commission’s schedule for releasing the Community Plan draft by September 23 and a public presentation in October, and noted receipt of Carter Farm developer materials (traffic and HOA cost reports) and a planned September 1 discussion on public vs. private roads. Department reports included Town Manager items (search for a spray field, an added cleaning day on August 23, and economic development meetings) and Police Department updates (July status report, speed-trailer data for Hope Road, and recognition that Officer Colin Rhodes administered Narcan/CPR/AED on July 6 to save a life); the Police Department had 10 sworn officers on staff at the time of the meeting.
