Town Council — 2022-01-06

The Centreville Town Council met January 6, 2022. The Council approved the December 2, 2021 minutes, reported no citizen comments, and held a closed session earlier that day to discuss land acquisition and to consult with counsel about potential legal matters and developer agreements (no actions taken). The meeting recognized 2021 Tree Decorating and Christmas Parade winners, and Carol D’Agostino announced Drink Maryland (June 18, 2022) and Centreville Day (October 22, 2022). New business included review of a draft procurement policy (may require Charter/Code amendments; purchases would still be verbally reported to Council when over $50,000) and approval of six full-day Town office closures on the third Tuesday of each month for the first six months of 2022 to allow staff to review, scan, file, and archive records to meet Maryland requirements. Reports noted the Carter Farm development is moving forward with upcoming site plans and a future decision needed on sewer allocations; Police will shift to a single-page summary for reports, senior staff will present in future meetings, and the Council agreed to deploy an additional speed camera on Kidwell Avenue; Public Works thanked the public for support during a recent snow storm and said staff will be pre-treating roads at 9:00.
