Town Council — 2021-09-02

The Town Council met September 2, 2021 at the Liberty Building with President Timothy McCluskey and council members present. The Council approved the August 19 minutes, held a closed-session report for an August 24 meeting that discussed personnel (including a follow-up interview and employee compensation) and a development agreement and directed the Town Manager and Town Attorney to prepare a draft employment contract. Sean Holden was sworn in as a Centreville police officer and Robert Davis was sworn to the Personnel Review Board. The Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 09-2021 (Accessory Structures) amending Chapter 170 to relate accessory structure size to rear-yard size, increase setbacks for structures over 12 feet, require vegetative buffers for taller buildings, and add definitions. The Council authorized the purchase of a 2022 Ford F-250 for up to $44,641 and awarded Wharf Warehouse repairs to Harper & Sons, Inc. for up to $33,250. First readings were held for Ordinance 11-2021 (acceptance of Cypress Street) — with a plat requested for the next meeting — and for Ordinances 12-2021 and 13-2021 (Carter Farm text amendments to Chapters 170 and 138), which will go to the Planning Commission and a public hearing; there were no citizen comments recorded.
