Town Council — 2020-11-05

The Centreville Town Council met November 5, 2020 at the Liberty Building. The Council approved the October 15, 2020 minutes and unanimously approved a voluntary AmWins retiree healthcare program at no cost to the Town for future Medicare-eligible retirees. End-of-year decisions approved included a full day of leave for employees on December 24, a $100 holiday bonus plus $15 for a turkey, an employee Christmas breakfast on December 11, cancellation of the December 3 Council meeting, a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on January 23, 2021, and bagging parking meters from December 4–25 by consensus. The Council unanimously approved letters of support for the Queen Anne’s County YMCA state grant and approved a $1,000 cash match and support letter for the Stories of the Chesapeake grant (vote 4–1). The Council discussed board/commission appointment interviews to be held in closed session prior to the November 19 meeting and a proposed ordinance to expand the Board of Supervisors of Elections from three to five members and change renewal month from February to April; they also set the Tree Lighting Ceremony for December 2 at 6:00 p.m. and approved a $250 donation to the YMCA Turkey Trot (vote 4–1).
