Town Council — 2020-10-01

The Centreville Town Council met October 1, 2020; attendees included President Jeffrey C. Morgan, Vice President Timothy E. McCluskey, Town Manager Steve Walls, Chief Joe Saboury, Finance Officer Karen Luffman, and others. The Council approved the September 17 minutes, held closed sessions on September 17 and October 1 to discuss personnel (including a personnel matter with the Chief of Police) and approved an amended employment agreement for the Town Manager. A public hearing and second reading led to unanimous approval of Ordinance 10-2020, an amendment to the FY2020 budget to adjust three departments (A10-Legislative $5,555; A81-Buildings $6,408; H60-Cemetery $6,398); no public comments were received. The Centreville Day live event was cancelled after consultation with the County Health Officer, with a 100-item Family Fun Pack planned for curbside pickup; the Live Farmers’ Market and Sunday Brunch were reported successful with two sponsorships. The Council also voted to cancel the December 2020 Christmas Parade due to COVID-19; the Town Manager approved the 3rd amendment to the Public Works Agreement for the Centreville Business Park, reported election preparations, confirmed the police department emergency generator was powered and training scheduled, and noted roof work at the District courthouse; the Police Chief reported work on enhanced community policing, a policies/procedures review, and submission of a FY2021 State Aid grant.
