The Centreville Town Council met August 13, 2020 at the Liberty Building. The council unanimously approved the July 16, 2020 minutes, administered oaths of office to Sandy Simpson (Park Advisory Board) and Donald Dawkins (Board of Appeals), and held multiple closed sessions in early August to conduct personnel interviews (authorizing an offer on August 12) and to consult with counsel (authorizing the Town Attorney to draft a developer agreement on August 13). The council unanimously adopted Resolution 09-2020, a drug and alcohol policy covering DOT and non-DOT employees. In new business, Queen Anne’s County described a dredging permit for the Corsica River that would affect the Town boat slips at the Centreville Wharf, and proposed mitigation by removing phragmites on two Town lots on Watson Road (the County grant would fund removal and seeks assurances the lots remain tidal wetlands; the Town’s planned walkway/lookout was reported not to conflict with mitigation acreage). No citizens spoke at the meeting.
