Town Council — 2020-07-16

The July 16, 2020 Centreville Town Council meeting reviewed and approved the June 11 minutes, appointed Nancy Weibell to the Board of Supervisors of Elections (oath administered, term to February 2021), and unanimously approved Ordinance 07-2020 authorizing conveyance of Parcel I (6.413 acres on QAC Tax Map 044C Grid 0016 Parcel 0501 I) and Ordinance 08-2020 governing election terms for the vacant fourth seat. New business actions: the Council left the Drug & Alcohol Policy record open for public comment and will vote on it at the August 13 meeting with a resolution to accompany the policy; approved a $2,514.45 FY20 Main Street encumbrance to FY21 and discussed Centreville Day (monitor CDC/QAC Health guidance, possible Broadway closure and one-hour reduction); approved the 2021 Drink Maryland: Centreville event for June 19, 2021 and informal leniency on temporary COVID-19 signage; and approved encumbering $20,055.80 from FY20 to FY21 for the Centreville Police Department generator. Department reports noted completion of the SHA paving project, pending final paving in North Brook Phase III, ongoing hiring for water/wastewater and utility positions and Chief of Police, façade improvement program activity (18 businesses, $185,000 funding), five candidates filed for the October election, and the police department working two active cases (an armed robbery at Everest Mart and a domestic).
