The Centreville Town Council held a FY2021 budget work session on April 23, 2020 to review the operating budget, water/sewer user fees, and the public utility tax. Finance Officer Karen Luffman presented budget scenarios with 15% and 20% cost allocations and reviewed user-fee options; the Council agreed by consensus to a 40% increase in water/sewer user fees for FY2021 (followed by a 4% annual increase) and to raise the vacant lot fee to $40.00 per quarter, and asked Luffman to draft the budget using a 20% allocation. On the public utility tax, Council agreed by consensus to raise the rate from $3.11 to $7.00 and to place 75% of the revenue difference into the permanent fund and 25% into the general fund. The Council noted a constant yield and budget hearing on May 21 and went into closed session at 7:49 p.m.
