These are the agenda and minutes for Centreville Town Council FY2021 budget work sessions (agenda dated April 16, 2020; minutes of the April 23, 2020 session). Council members and staff reviewed FY21 operating budget scenarios (15% vs 20% cost allocation) and directed the finance officer to draft the budget using a 20% allocation. For water and sewer, Council found current user fees do not cover operations and, by consensus, approved a 40% increase in FY2021 (with a recurring annual 4% increase thereafter) and raised the vacant lot fee to $40.00 per quarter; staff were instructed to use the 20% allocation in the draft. For the public utility tax, Council agreed by consensus to raise the rate from $3.11 to $7.00 and to place the revenue difference (between $3.11 and $7.00) 75% into the permanent fund and 25% into the general fund. The meeting concluded with a motion to go into closed session at 7:49 p.m.
