Town Council — 2020-02-20

These are the approved minutes of the Centreville Town Council meeting held February 20, 2020 at the Liberty Building, called to order by Council President Jim A. Beauchamp. The Council unanimously approved the January 16 and February 6 minutes, and reported two recent closed sessions (Jan. 2 on a proposed business expansion and Feb. 19 to consult with counsel and discuss personnel/appointments); no actions were taken in either closed session. The Council held a public hearing on Ordinance 15-2019 to amend Section 138-64 of the Town Code (record plat information and required signatures); the hearing was noticed in the Record Observer, no members of the public spoke for or against the ordinance, and the hearing was adjourned. In Old Business the State Board of Elections dismissed the complaint concerning the 2019 election and the Council discussed Joshua E. Shonts’ qualification for office, with Council President Beauchamp indicating he was inclined to approve swearing him in and Councilmember Morgan citing Town Charter residency/registration requirements.
