These are the approved minutes of the Centreville Town Council meeting on January 2, 2020. Council approved the Dec. 5, 2019 minutes and held two recent closed sessions: Dec. 5 (personnel discussion, no actions) and Jan. 2 (consultation with counsel about potential disposition of town property; Council authorized the Town Manager to discuss an offer with a prospective purchaser). The Council presented trophies for the 2019 Christmas Parade (Best Overall: Queen Anne’s County 4‑H Goat Club; various placements in Most Original and Keeping with the Theme categories) and for the Christmas Tree Decorating contest (1st–3rd: Girl Scout Troops 446, 1271, 152). First readings were given for Ordinance 15‑2019 (amending subdivision plat signature requirements) and Ordinance 01‑2020 (requesting an annual tax set‑off from Queen Anne’s County; second reading set for Jan. 16). Department reports noted completed Happy Lady Lane sidewalks and driveway aprons, Church Lane base paving and upcoming sidewalk work, a delayed Pennsylvania Avenue striping, and correspondence from MDE about the North Brook water treatment plant including an RFP for engineering (responses due Jan. 8), a Jan. 20 deadline to provide MDE a timeline, and a Feb. 6 work session planned to discuss discolored water with a request that an MDE representative attend.
