Planning Commission — 2023-10-18

The Centreville Planning Commission met October 18, 2023; Chair Kara Willis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present (Willis, Tim Zuella, Mitchell Delaney, Pat Fox, Nancy Emerick, Wendy Emerson), Town Attorney Sharon VanEmburgh, and Administrative Assistant Betty Jean Hall were recorded. The Commission approved the September 20, 2023 minutes as amended and considered a Special Exception request for a short-term rental at 104 Watson Road (applicants Jane Keller and Gordon Bjorkman were not present). The Commission forwarded a favorable recommendation to the Board of Zoning Appeals finding the request consistent with the Comprehensive Plan, but recommended that any approval be limited to the current applicants (non-transferable) and urged that rental materials call attention to pedestrian and bicycle safety given driveway orientations, road curvature, and lack of sidewalks/striping. Announcements included staff and council changes, contracting EPR PC for planning services, a November 1 work session on Draft Comprehensive Plan changes, and several commissioners attending the Maryland Planning Commissioners Association conference; there were no citizen comments and the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
