Planning Commission — 2021-06-16

The Centreville Planning Commission met June 16, 2021. The Commission approved the May 19 and June 2 meeting minutes, accepted the resignation of member Joe Cichocki effective that evening, and unanimously voted to forward a proposed text amendment on accessory buildings to the Town Council. The accessory-building amendment details: a minimum 3-foot side/rear setback for structures up to 12 feet tall, an additional 2 feet of horizontal setback for each foot of height above 12 feet up to a 20-foot maximum setback, height measured at the midpoint between eave and ridge, a limit that accessory buildings not exceed the principal structure in height, and a buildable footprint calculated as 30% of the required rear yard (the minutes include a 75-foot lot example yielding a 675 sq ft maximum). The amendment also requires a native-species evergreen buffer planting plan for any accessory building 15 feet or taller. The Commission also reviewed a preliminary draft of Chapter V (Land Use) of the Comprehensive Plan and made minor text and wording changes.
