The Park Advisory Board met March 1, 2022 via Zoom with Chair Mike Whitehill, members, the Council liaison, Town Manager, and staff present. The board unanimously approved the February 1, 2022 Tree Board and PAB minutes, received construction and maintenance updates on the Wharf (pavilion slabs in place, rooftop structures due mid‑March, barbeque grills and ash pit to be installed, new lighting by summer), and discussed accessibility and safety items (sensory panels planned for the Wharf and Millstream Park, Whitehill to build a handrail on the north side of the boardwalk, and limited options to reduce boardwalk slipperiness). The board noted shoreline phragmites eradication will occur in season with Queen Anne’s County, a landscaping RFP is out as the Town seeks to extend the contract from three to five years, and the Town may apply for additional Chesapeake Bay Trust grant funds after signage upgrades. New items included a request to add edible “Harvest Path” plantings (berries) along Millstream Trail, and reminder that PAB officer elections (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary) are scheduled for April 5, 2022; the group also reviewed existing Wharf signage and discussed a proposed $50 nonrefundable park use fee. The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
