The Park Advisory Board met October 5, 2021, approved the May 4 and September 7 minutes, and welcomed new Town Manager Chip Koogle. Board members reviewed project updates: Wharf Park boardwalk redecking is underway, electric work has not begun, Unity Landscaping installed a wetland meadow, mulch was placed for a swing set, and the Town solicited proposals to design and build three maritime-themed pavilions (capped at $45,000 each, with additional electric costs); a future band shell concept would be merged with playground/pavilion themes. Other updates: a contract was awarded for plantings at Pop Taylor Park; dead trees near Goose Landing need replacement for Tree City USA/Arbor Day; the Millstream Park train was removed for deterioration and the board discussed a sensory-playground replacement and a grant-funded trail link to Symphony Village. New business and discussion items included organizing Lawyers Row Christmas tree decorating (theme: “A Gingerbread House Christmas,” DPW to inventory trees), a discussion of dog parks (liability, fees, design, maintenance; at least 13 potential properties identified but no site chosen), and street-light installation on Lawyers Row scheduled to begin mid-October; the meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
