Parks & Recreation — 2021-04-06

The Park Advisory Board met via Zoom on April 6, 2021. The board approved the March 2, 2021 PAB and Tree Board minutes, elected to keep the current officers (Mike Whitehill, Chair; Priscilla Mileski, Vice Chair; Sandy Simpson, Secretary), and scheduled the Arbor Day celebration for April 30, 2021 at Centreville Elementary School where two Nellie Stevens Holly trees (donated/purchased by a relative, Art Shuster) will be planted; Unity Landscape will deliver the trees and the Department of Public Works will dig the holes after an MS-utility locate. Updates noted that Southeast Lawn & Landscape has begun work on the Wharf project and a new swing set should be installed within a month, bluebird and wood duck boxes have been installed (wood duck boxes visible from Glendale Avenue and Goose Landing), and the Town of Centreville was named Tree City USA for 2020. The board also raised an erosion problem at the end of Millstream Trail near Glendale Avenue to be addressed, confirmed the next PAB meetings (May 4, 2021 via Zoom and June 1, 2021 at Millstream Park pavilion), and adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
