The Park Advisory Board met October 6, 2020 at the Millstream Park Pavilion; Chair Mike Whitehill called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. Minutes from the September 1, 2020 meeting were approved. A citizen, Natalie Bilbrough, asked for additional fencing around the children’s play area at Wharf Park. Updates included a Town RFP for revitalizing and replacing boards on the Wharf boardwalk, DPW handling current Wharf landscaping, and consideration of Southeast Lawn and Landscape to take over Wharf maintenance next year. New business covered holiday decorations: checking which Lawyers Row trees can be decorated, confirmation there will be no Christmas Parade, and the Legacy Foundation’s plan to hang swags and possibly buy ornaments for the North Commerce Street tree (Town Manager Steve Walls to verify whether a tree will be placed). Other items: a request to place rocks to protect a flower bed on East Water Street at Happy Lady Lane, recruitment of two volunteers (Natalie Bilbrough and Erin Neusbaum) to apply to the PAB, concern about vine-covered trees at Centreville Elementary to be referred to QAC Parks & Recreation or the Board of Education, a suggestion to add a QAC High School student liaison, and Town Hall closure on October 12; the meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m. The next PAB meeting date is to be determined.
