These are the minutes of the Centreville Ethics Commission meeting held April 29, 2022. Attendees included Chair Carrie O’Connor, Vice Chair Lucy Ickes-Marks, member Martha Herman, Town Attorney Sharon VanEmburgh, Council President Steve Kline (present for part of the meeting), and Town Clerk Carolyn Brinkley. The commission unanimously approved the August 12, 2021 minutes. The sole new business was Advisory Opinion #01-2022 requested by Steve Kline about whether his employment as President and CEO of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy (ESLC) conflicted with his role as the Town Council liaison to the Centreville Planning Commission; Kline reported ESLC has no financial interest in Centreville or Queen Anne’s County properties and that ESLC would not place easements within a municipality. The town attorney noted conflict rules hinge on personal financial interest, and the commission unanimously found no conflict of interest for Kline to hold both roles. The meeting adjourned at 12:53 p.m.
