RESOLUTION 11-2023
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF CENTREVILLE ADOPTING THE
TOWN OF CENTREVILLE COMPREHENSM PLAN: 2040 PURSUANT TO THE
LAND USE ARTICLE OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND
WHEREAS, in 2020 the Town of Centreville Planning and Zoning Commission began efforts
to update the 2009 Centreville Community Plan to be in compliance with the update
requirements of the Land Use Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with requirements of the planning authority granted to the Town
by the State of Maryland, the Town completed its first comprehensive plan in 1966, with
amendmentsinl9T4 and the first Plan update adopted in 1988, which was then amended in
1992, 1998, and 2009; and
WHEREAS, in 2021 the Town of Centreville Planning and Zoning Commission commenced
preparation of an updated Comprehensive Plan, that involved work sessions, citizen input and
comment, and input received from State and County agencies pursuant to the Land Use Article
of the Annotated Code of Maryland; and
WHEREAS, on October 5,2022, the Town of Centreville Planning and Zoning Commission
held a public workshop after which, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted to publicize
the Plan for a public hearing, which was held on January 18,2023 and February 15,2023; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of Centreville is empowered, in accordance with the Land Use
Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland 53-204, to enact, adopt, amend, and execute the
Town of Centreville Comprehensive Plan: 2040; and
WHEREAS, in adopting the Town of Centreville Comprehensive Plan 2040, it is the
intention of the Town Council of Centreville that the Plan recommendations are in service to
the people of Centreville, those here today and those that will be here in the future; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Centreville Planning and Zoning Commission, at their August 2,
2023 meetrng, approved changes to the Plan and recommending adoption by the Town Council
of Centreville of the Town of Centerville Comprehensive Plan: 2040.
WHEREAS, on September 21,2023, the Town Council of Centreville held a public hearing to
receive public comment to the Draft Plan and reviewed and considered testimony from the
public hearing; and
WHEREAS, on October 26,2023, the Town Council of Centreville held a public workshop,
providing feedback to the Planning andZontngCommission recommending changes to the
Town of Centreville Comprehensive Plan: 2040; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Centreville Planning and Zoning Commission, at their December 6,
2023, approved changes to the Plan and recommending adoption by the Town Council of
Centreville of the Town of Centreville Comprehensive Plan: 2040; and

WHEREAS, on December 14, 2023, the Town Council of Centreville held a public hearing to
receive public comment to the Draft Plan and reviewed and considered testimony from the
public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Plan conforms to the requirements of the Land Use Article of the
Annotated Code of Maryland $3-201(bXlXiii) and will promote the health, safety, and welfare
of the citizens of Centreville, Maryland; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of Centreville, acting
pursuant to the authority of the Land Use Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, hereby
approve and adopt the Town of Centreville Comprehensive Plan:2040.
