This February 1, 2024 letter from Centreville Town Manager Carolyn M. Brinkley to the Maryland SHA states the Town’s intent to purchase Map 44C, Parcel 1086 (7.942 acres) on South Commerce Street for $345,000. The sale is contingent on the Town receiving a Program Open Space grant of at least $343,000 and the Town’s approval of wetlands mitigation language that would encumber 4.3 acres of the parcel. The Town will take title as “The Town Council of Centreville” and intends to use POS funds, so the deed must include POS conversion restrictions (citing Md. Code, Natural Resources, §§ 5-906(e)(7) and (8)) requiring state approval for conversion and replacement land or equivalent appraised value if conversion is approved. The letter also notes the property was conveyed to the Seller by deed dated June 10, 2015 (Liber 2430, folio 001) and references an earlier 1959 deed description.
