Chief of Police
A. Policy
It is the policy of the CPD to make the necessary equipment and other required items available to all CPD
personnel to be able to efficiently and effectively complete any and all tasks assigned them.
B. Control
The Chief of Police, in conjunction with the Lieutenant will ensure that:
1. CPD equipment, property and supplies are maintained in a secure manner.
2. A sufficient quantity of supplies are always available for Department use.
3. The distribution of equipment, property and supplies to employees is controlled so that only official needs
are served.
B. General Procedures
1. Requests for uniforms, weapons, or other Department supplies will be submitted to the Chief. The Chief
will review the request, and if approved, will place an order for the item. The Chief of Police, or
Lieutenant, are the only Department members authorized to approve purchases.
2. No employee of the CPD will:
a. convert to his own, any Town owned equipment, property or supplies;
b. misappropriate any Town owned equipment, property or supplies.
3. All Equipment, property or supplies given to an employee for use to complete his assigned task or job,
shall remain the property of CPD and the Town and shall be returned when requested by a Supervisor or
the Chief.
