This document is from the Sept. 16, 2020 Centreville Planning Commission meeting, part of a Community Plan Update discussion focused on neighborhoods and the Town’s long-range plan and growth area. Presentations highlighted natural “environmental corridors” associated with the Corsica River (wooded lands, wetlands, streams, and steep slopes) and argued for preserving and expanding those corridors to shape future growth and knit the Town together over the long term. A base map of the Town and surrounding area was shown (Town boundary, highways/streets, property lines, contour lines) and Queen Anne’s County GIS is supporting the mapping work; additional layers (land use, transportation, sensitive environmental areas) will be added during the planning process. The meeting also identified major undeveloped tracts/infill areas within the Town limits, noted one parcel partly outside town limits, and referenced potential housing unit counts at recommended densities as well as existing public natural areas, green space, school sites, and other institutional uses.

Town of Centreville Planning Commission Meeting Sept. 16, 2020 Community Plan Update Discussion: Neighborhoods This is the current long-range plan for the Town and its growth area. Spray irrigation field. Environmental Corridors can Corsica River lend shape and form to the future Town. Note the “environmental corridors” associated with the Corsica River. These contain the remaining wooded lands, wetlands, streams, and some steep slopes. Preserving these natural corridors (and allowing for their expansion) forms the future physical growth of the Town. It also provides a means for knitting the Town together as it expands over the very long term. A ”base map” of the Town and its surrounding area. As we move through the planning process, we will add content to this map…such as land use, transportation, and sensitive environmental areas. If you look closely you will see the Town Boundary, highways and streets, property lines, and even contour lines which track with the elevation of the land. Queen Anne’s County GIS is supporting our mapping work on the plan update as they did with the last community plan.
