RESOLUTION 09-2026

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF CENTREVILLE ESTABLISHING

THE TOWN OF CENTREVILLE CATEGORY I, CATEGORY II AND CATEGORY III

WASTE REMOVAL FEE.

WHEREAS, §129-18 of the Centreville Town Code provides that the Town Council of Centreville can set waste removal fees for Category I, Category II and Category III Waste, as those terms are defined in §129-17 of the Centreville Town Code;

WHEREAS, on October 6, 2004 the Town of Centreville established a rate of $37.50 per lot for the removal of Category I Waste;

WHEREAS, on February 11, 2016 the Town of Centreville established a rate of $45.00 for Category I, Category II, and Category III Waste combined, and beginning Fiscal Year 2019, a 3% increase on Category I, Category II, and Category III Waste Removal was implemented and every three years thereafter;

WHEREAS, on June 3, 2021 the Town Council of Centreville established a rate of $48.50 per equivalent dwelling unit (EDU), per quarter, which would adequately cover the cost of Category I, Category II, and Category III Waste removal and the tipping fees associated with such waste; and WHEREAS, the Town Council of Centreville believes that a quarterly fee of $46.53 per equivalent dwelling unit (EDU), per quarter, effective July 1, 2026, would adequately cover the

cost of Category I Waste removal and the tipping fees associated with such waste and a quarterly fee of $13.31 per EDU, per quarter would adequately cover the cost of Category III Waste removal for a combined quarterly total of $59.84 per EDU; and WHEREAS, the Town Council of Centreville believes due to the increase in cost, Category II Waste removal will be serviced by recycling dumpsters located on the Town’s lot

behind Goodwill Fire Company, at no cost to the residents.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of Centreville, this day of June, 2026 that effective July 1, 2026, the fee for Category I and Category III Waste Removal collection shall be $59.84.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that beginning Fiscal Year 2028 a 3% rate increase on Category III Waste Removal and beginning Fiscal Year 2030 a 3% rate increase on Category I Waste Removal shall be implemented every year thereafter unless amended by the Town Council of Centreville by resolution. The Council may also amend the rate of increase in the ordinance that it passes to adopt the budget for the Town;
