The August23,2022 Park Advisory Board (PAB) work session was called to order by Mike Whitehill,
Chair at 5:00 p.m. via ZOOM. The following members and staff were present: Mike Whitehill, Chair;
Sandy Simpson, Secretary; Priscilla Mileski and Rich Ryan, members; Clifford 'Kip' Matthews,
Director of Public Works; and Norma Robinson, Administrative Assistant.

Old Business:
a The PAB had a roundtable discussion for the Wharf Day celebration. Town Council approved an
event date of Saturday, September 70,2022. The event time frame is 4 to 8 PM which will include
a fishing derby, ribbon cutting and movie night. Mr. Whitehill stated that before the PAB can
move forward with the event, they need to contact Queen Anne's County (QAC) Parks and
Recreation to assure that the movie screen and projector are available on September 10th. Contact
someone from Corsica River Conservancy to see if they are available to assist with the fishing
derby. After discussion, the following items were assigned as task:
A. Ms. Robinson will check with the Town Clerk or Tim McCluskey to see how many people
have attended in the past. She will also contact QAC Parks and Recreation to confirm that the
screen and projector are available on September 10th. Ms. Robinson will contact Madelyn
Harrison and family at204 Windsor Ave. for a personal invite.
B. Ms. Simpson will speak with Tim McCluskey regarding details for the fishing derby and
contact a member of the Corsica River Conservancy to find out if they are available to assist
with the fishing derby.
C. Mr. Whitehill will contact Paul Gunther to see if he is available to serve hotdogs during the
event. Other suggested vendors to serve hotdogs were; the Boy Scouts, Gene Dodd or Dobson
Dogs. Mr. Whitehill stated that once the event is confirmed, have the Town clerk include the
event information in an email blast. Notice can be placed on the Main Street Facebook page
and given to the Record Observer.
D. Ms. Mileski suggested having bottled water available during the fishing derby. Ask if the
Department of Public Works has coolers or others can provide coolers for the event.
The PAB can purchase the water and ice. Ms. Mileski suggested buying glow sticks for
children for the movie.

E. It was noted that in past years Commerce Street Creamery sold ice cream during movie night
Ms. Robinson will contact the owners, Rick or Valerie, to see if their business is available to
participate.
A follow-up email will be sent out by Thursday to confirm the availability of the movie screen and
projector from QAC Parks and Recreation and to verifu that Corsica River Conservancy is
available to assist with the Fishing Derby.
a Mr. Ryan asked if Council Liaison, Shelby Anania, had been advised and if she plans to
participate. Ms. Robinson advised that Ms. Anania receives PAB emails and correspondence. If
Ms. Anania is not available on September l0th, please ask what Council Member will be available
for the ribbon cutting.
