Park Advisory Board Meeting (via zoom) Minutes February 1,2022 - 6:10 PM The February 1,2022 Park Advisory Board (PAB) meeting was called to order by Mike Whitehill, Chair, at 6:10 p.m. via Zoom. The following members and staff were present: Mike Whitehill, Chair;

Priscilla Mileski, Vice Chair; Sandy Simpson, Secretary; Gene Magary, Fred McNeil, Ryan Holgreve and fuch Ryan, Members; and Norma Robinson, Administrative Assistant.

Review and Approval of Previous Minutes:

a Minutes from the January 4,2022 meeting were emailed for review. Ms. Mileski made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Magary. The motion passed by a unanimous vote.

a Wharf Park: Mr. Whitehill advised that the electric power towers are being installed at the Wharf. Five towers have been installed with one left to install. The pavilion columns were delivered to the Wharf. As soon as there are a few consecutive days above 40 degrees, the contractor will begin pouring concrete to install the columns then begin construction of the pavilions. A handicapped picnic table will be placed at one of the pavilions. Mr. Whitehill

advised that surveillance will be provided at the Wharf Park and covered under grant funding by the Centreville Police Department. Mr. Whitehill advised that he researched information on nonskid surfaces which might be used to prevent slipping on the boardwalk. Mr. McNeil stressed the importance of awareness at the Wharf boardwalk, which does not have handrails for safety. It was suggested that some type of signage be placed there. Mr. Whitehill is

working with the Town to obtain trees to be planted during the Arbor Day celebration.

a Recreation: The PAB discussed additional recreation for the parks. Mr. Whitehill suggested a recreational packet or box which could be rented during the use of the park rental for a minimal fee.

a Dog Park: Mr. Whitehill advised that the letter of recommendation was emailed to Council Liaison, Shelby Anania for the Councils consideration.

a Mr. Whitehill advised that the Town Council has asked for updated information along with an estimate to roughout the remaining Town trails to make them usable. Mr. Whitehill will give a presentation at the February 4,2022 Town Council meeting referencing Millstream Trail and other rails to trail extensions, which were included in the Town's Master Plan.

Mr. Ryan made a motion, which was seconded by Ms. Mileski, to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. The February 1,2022 PAB meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
