Park Advisory Board Meeting (via Zoom) Meeting Minutes January 4,2022 - 6:00 PM The January 4,2022 Park Advisory Board (PAB) meeting was called to order by Mike Whitehill, Chair, at 6:00 p.m. YiaZoom. The following members and staff were present: Mike Whitehill, Chair; Priscilla Mileski, Vice Chair; Sandy Simpson, Secretary; Gene Magary, Fred McNeil, and Rich Ryan, Members; and Norma Robinson, Administrative Assistant.
Review and Approval of Previous Minutes:
o December 1,2021PAB minutes were presented and approved by a unanimous vote.

o Wharf Park: Mr. Whitehill discussed security and surveillance for the Wharf with Chief Joe Saboury. The outcome is that security and surveillance will be handled by Chief Saboury and the Centreville Police Department.
o Trees near Goose Landing have died and will be replaced during the Arbor Day celebration.
o Mr. Whitehill received an updated tree canopy map. A link to both the 2021 and 2019 Tree Canopy map will be emailed to everyone to see the comparison in growth.
o The PAB discussed dog parks. Mr. McNeil stated that he spoke with Councilman Jeff Keil regarding his ideas. Mr. Whitehill stated the Town might want to join with Queen Anne's County to move forward with a dog park at White Marsh Park. After discussion, Mr. McNeil made a motion, which was seconded by Ms. Mileski, to have Mr. Whitehill draft a letter of recommendation to the Town Council to work with QAC to create a dog park at White Marsh
Park.
New Business:
a Mr. Whitehill thanked Ms. Simpson for the Annual PAB report. He discussed future recreation at the parks and asked the PAB to send suggested items and recommendations they would like to see at the parks. Recreational items were badminton, racket ball and chess. Ms. Mileski made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Magrary, to approve the 2021 Annual PAB Report. The motion passed by unanimous vote. Mr. Whitehill asked that the Annual Report be forwarded to the Town Council for
their blessing along with the letter of recommendation for the Council to pursue a dog park.
w/boardVPAB/minuteslz0Zz lnuty 4, 2022 a Mr. Whitehill advised that an email from resident, Kara Voight, regarding damage to the North Pocket Park Pavilion was received. The damage was missing spindle rails.
Ms. Voight's request is to have the remaining rails removed to improve the look of the pavilion.
All were in agreement to have the Department of Public Works remove the remaining spindles.
Another concern was fading and deteriorating signage at the Wharf which needs to be removed or replaced. These signs were not placed at the Wharf by the Town but by grant funding from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority through Mary Margaret Goodwin .
Discussion:
a Mr. McNeil advised that he often walks along the Wharf boardwalk early in the morning. Cold if weather causes frost on the boardwalk which is slippery in the early mornings. He asked something could be done to prevent someone from slipping and falling into the water. Mr. Whitehill stated that due to the treated wood, research is needed to see what can be applied without damaging the boardwalk.

Ms. Simpson made a motion, which was seconded by Ms. Mileski, to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. The January 4,2022 PAB meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
