These are the minutes of the Centreville Park Advisory Board meeting (via Zoom) on March 2, 2021; the board approved the February 2 minutes and approved purchasing 3 Bluebird boxes and 4 Wood duck boxes from Chesapeake Wildlife Heritage. Other items discussed included an update that Wharf work will begin by April (and potholes in the Wharf parking lot need repair), repainting the Millstream Park train set (possible Boy Scout assistance), inability so far to get approval to plant Holly trees as a Covert memorial, and vines growing on a Champion tree along Millstream trail that need cutting.

Park Advisory Board meeting (Via – Zoom) March 2, 2021 – 6 PM Minutes The March 2, 2021 Park Advisory Board (PAB) meeting was called to order by Mike Whitehill, Chair at 6:18 p.m. via Zoom. The following members and staff were present: Mike Whitehill, Chair; Priscilla Mileski, Vice Chair; Sandy Simpson, Secretary; Rich Ryan, Gene Magary, and Fred McNeil, Members; Shelby Anania, Council Liaison; Steve Walls, Town Manager; and Norma Robinson, Administrative Assistant. Review and Approval of Previous Minutes: • Ms. Simpson made a motion, which was seconded by Ms. Mileski, to approve the February 2, 2021 PAB meeting minutes, as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Citizens Comments: • None Appearances: • None Old Business: • Mr. Whitehill presented updates of the Wharf project. Work at the Wharf will begin by April. Mr. Ryan noted potholes in the Wharf parking lot and asked that they be addressed. • Ms. Mileski sent an email of research with Chesapeake Wildlife Heritage regarding Bluebird and Wood duck boxes which would be educational to those who love nature and the outdoors. The cost is $75 for each Bluebird box plus $20 for travel and $90 for each Wood duck box. After discussion, Mr. McNiel made a motion, which was seconded by Ms. Mileski, to purchase 3 Bluebird boxes and 4 Wood duck boxes to be installed along Millstream trail and the Wharf. Mr. Ryan suggested involving the public by having them pledge a donation. Mr. Whitehill asked Ms. Mileski to draft a flyer for contributions. • Ms. Simpson stated the train set at Millstream Park needs to be repainted. A suggestion was to have a Boy Scout Troop assist with the painting. • Ms. Robinson advised that she spoke with Ms. Pullen at the Board of Education but was unable to obtain an approval to plant the Holly trees in honor of Jack and Nancy Covert. Ms. Simpson spoke with Principal Farnell but did not receive an approval. She was asked to contact Dick Smith for assistance. w/boards/PAB/minutes/2021/March 2, 2021 New Business: • Ms. Simpson reported that vines are growing on one of the Champion trees along Millstream trail and need to be cut back. Discussion: • The next PAB meeting will be held April 6, 2021, 6 p.m., via Zoom. Reports: • No Reports. Announcements and events: • Ms. Robinson presented announcements for upcoming meetings and events. Adjournment: Ms. Mileski made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Ryan, to adjourn.
