Amendments noted where applicable.] GENERAL REFERENCES Referendum petitions — See Charter Section 210. 99-1 Fraudulent Representation It is unlawful for a person, as principal or agent, in circulating or in having charge or control of the circulation of or in obtaining signatures for any petition (including an associated or related set of petitions), under the provisions of the Town Charter or concerning any ordinances of the Town of Centreville, to misrepresent or to make any false statements concerning the contents, purport, or effect of the petition or ordinance for which the petition is sought, to any person who signs, wishes to sign, is requested to sign, makes inquiry concerning the petition or to whom the petition is presented for signature. 99-2 False Signatures It is unlawful for any person, as principal or agent, to submit to the Town Council of Centreville a petition to which is attached, appended, or subscribed any signature which the person knows to be false or fraudulent or not the genuine signature of the person purporting to sign the petition or of the person whose name is attached, appended or subscribed to the petition. 99-3 Money For Signatures It is unlawful for any person to give, pay or receive any money or other valuable consideration or inducement for signing the petition or for securing the signatures thereon. 99-4 Unqualified Signing Of Petition It is unlawful for any person to sign a petition, knowing at the time that he or she is not qualified to sign it. 99-5 False Affidavits It shall be unlawful for any person to make a false affidavit concerning the petition. 99-6 False, Forged Or Fictitious Names It shall be unlawful for any person to circulate or cause to be circulated a petition knowing it contained false, forged or fictitious names. 99-7 Violations And Penalties Any violation of provisions of §§ 99-1 through 99-6 of this chapter shall be deemed a misdemeanor, subject to the penalties provided in § 1-14.B.5.d of the Town Code.
